baby blanket / hannah wellock
essay title How is health and access to healthcare experienced by climate refugees and migrants, with a focus on asylum seekers in the UK? target audience Asylum-seeking children and/or medical professionals and policy makers who can make healthcare more accessible for asylum seekers commentary I wanted to demonstrate how asylum seekers in the UK, and specifically asylum-seeking children, fall through the gaps within the healthcare system. I knitted a baby blanket as children are one of the most vulnerable groups and are especially susceptive to the effects of climate change. The holes in the baby blanket represent the aforementioned gaps in healthcare, which when stretched, are distinct. Stretching the blanket represents the pressures the NHS is under financially, with resources spread thin. |
