bottle label design/
sana baur essay title The right to stay (and to die): A closer look at voluntary immobility in Indigenous Pacific Island Communities in the face of climate change target audience Decision-makers at COP27 (Conference of the Parties to the United Nations' Framework Convention on Climate Change) and members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) commentary I created these water bottle labels to be put out on tables at COP/IPCC meetings. Members of the COP/IPCC are busy, so I wanted to use a medium I knew they would engage with. With a water bottle, people will be forced to pick it up and look at it. As lack of access to clean drinking water, caused by sea level rise, is one of the main threats to life on Pacific Islands, the medium is not only practical but also appropriate. As members of the COP/IPCC ingest the bottled water, I hope they also ingest the message behind it. I wanted to make the front label simple and eye catching to attract attention and then on the back I have either placed a summary of the message or an extract from the poem ‘Tell Them’ (Jetnil-Kijiner, 2015) in an effort to include indigenous voices. |
